Daisy Cumberland - Physique Coach and Business Mentor
All the way through school I never really knew what I wanted to do with my life, I ended up going to college and doing a couple of random subjects but still with no job goal in mind - Photography, English, Forensic Science, and IT (random, I know!)
My mum always used to tell me to go to school, get good grades, get a 9-5 job and work your way up in the company, you’ll get a pension, holidays, sick pay, it’s a secure job…
Once leaving college I went on to do many jobs, all of which were contracted hours and all of which I didn’t enjoy. I felt extremely unfulfilled, surely there's more to life? I knew I was destined for bigger things.
Something I did really enjoy was going to the gym, my local privately owned gym was looking for someone to work the reception, so decided to leave my 9-5 call centre job and get in the gym - I took quite the pay cut but I was so happy there.
I went from working the reception desk to then moving on to completing my fitness instructor and personal trainer courses, I started to fall in love with helping others get results!
Then came the day I decided it was time to go self-employed. When I told my mum I was going to go self-employed she was worried for me, ‘it’s not guaranteed income’, ‘you won't get holiday pay’ and all the rest of it. Was I worried? Hell yeah, what if I couldn’t make this work?
Fast forward to the present day, I’ve been self-employed for over 5 years now as a personal trainer and I’ve helped so many people physically and mentally and it’s literally been the best years of my life. It’s not been plain sailing, nothing ever is, but I am so glad I took the risk all those years ago.
I’ve even started branching into other businesses and creating multiple sources of income, learning new skills, and finding my passion for personal development, in turn, this has helped me to help even more people and as a result, feeling extremely fulfilled and very grateful.

Speed Date Questions.
1. What was your first job?
My first job was as a waitress at Dakota hotel, I remember going for the interview and absolutely pooping myself. It was a fast-paced job but I really enjoyed it and I think talking to so many strangers on a daily basis enabled me to gain some confidence!
2. What are you reading at the moment?
At the minute I’m reading a few things actually (which one I choose in the evening depends on my mood) but I’ll list all three of them.
’How To Win Friends And Influence People - Dale Carnegie’ - this book is about improving the relationships you have in your life, how to communicate, become a better speaker, etc.
’The Millionaire Training - Larry Thompson’ - A book about how to grow your business simply and effectively.
’For Richer For Poorer - Kerry Wilkinson’ - A good old crime book, this is number 10 in the series so you could say I’m pretty invested haha.
3. What advice would you give to your younger self?
“Don’t bother so much about what other people think about you, follow your gut every single time, and don’t rely on somebody else to create your happiness because it’s all inside of you”
