Abby Poem - Musician

Eight years ago I left London, leaving behind a career in Human Rights, to explore the world, study yoga, and write poetry. I made a promise to myself, that I would build a career by sharing the things that I love most of all. Little did I know at the time, that Yoga and Music would completely transform my life.

Today, I am a musician, currently in the process of recording my debut album, Change Will Come. I live on the top of a mountain in Ibiza. My home is off-grid, fuelled by the sun, the rain, and the stars. There is no greater inspiration to me than nature.

As well as working on my album, I teach yoga, facilitate kirtans and singing circles, sell crystals, am writing a book called 'conversations with heart,' and I love spending any spare time I have doing DIY and working in the garden.

My music is inspired by the colours and spirit of India, its culture of prayer, and connection to source. Together with this, the intangible and inexplicable power of plant medicines, has pathed a way for me to find my voice.

My intention is to share in its most pure form, expressions of the essence of healing and transformation, and bring forward a sense of hope, when one transcends fear of change.

With a lot of determination, commitment, and practice, I have come to a place whereby I feel ready to share my yoga and music with a broader audience.

My greatest aspiration is to inspire others to take big steps to change their lives and become more healthy, happy, and balanced.

The past month I’ve had an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign actively raising the funds to produce my album. There are just two days left now and I am blown away by the support. If you’d like to be part of making my album come to life please follow this link:

Behind the scenes, we have a bigger plan, an immersive online platform of yoga and music.

It will be a creative fusion of yoga classes, meditations, satsangs (spiritual lectures), mantra music soundscapes for you to bliss out to, and individual posture workshops. The vision is to provide a beautifully visual interactive experience of yogic life on the mountain in Ibiza, with accessible and understandable information to help you dive deeper into your journey of yoga.

Keep an eye out on my Instagram to watch this vision unfold. For now, you can head to Abby Poem on SoundCloud to listen to the demos we have created.

Careers Speed Date:

1.What was your first job?

My first job was waitressing for a catering company. Yes, I did nearly throw the whole bowl of broccoli over the bride once!

2. What are you reading right now?

What We Ache for by Oriah Mountain Dreamer

3. What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would tell her to be brave, to follow her heart, to trust the inner voice, and learn to observe the manipulative patterns of the mind. I would also tell her to slow down, to breathe, and not rush (I tell my older self this every day too)
